Tell Google what kind of business you are
There's a quiet layer of code called schema markup that lets you tell search engines, in their own language, that you're a restaurant, your hours, your menu, your price range. Done right, it's how you earn those rich results — star ratings, hours, menus — that show up before anyone clicks. Most sites skip it. You don't have to.
The move
If you're a local business or restaurant, this is worth doing properly — it's part of how we build.
Do it step by step
- Find your most specific business type — Electrician, Plumber, Restaurant, not just "business."
- Gather the facts: exact name, full address, phone with area code, website, hours.
- Add it as JSON-LD in your page's <head> — most builders have an SEO or custom-code field.
- Never self-report your own star ratings — Google ignores it and it can flag your markup.
- Test the page at search.google.com/test/rich-results.
- Fix anything marked critical, then publish.
- Allow a few days for Google to recrawl — rich results are never guaranteed.
