A current site outranks a stale one

Hours that changed in 2023, a menu from two summers ago, an "upcoming event" that already happened — search engines read staleness as neglect, and so do customers. Freshness isn’t about blogging constantly; it's about the basics being true today.

The move

Check your hours, prices, and any dates on your site. Fix the first thing that's out of date.

Do it step by step

  1. Open your site and read it as a stranger would, top to bottom.
  2. Check your hours — including holiday hours — against what's actually true today.
  3. Check every price. Anything you've raised since it was written?
  4. Hunt for old dates — "this fall," past events, "new for 2024."
  5. Confirm your phone, address, and staff names are still current.
  6. Fix the most embarrassing one first, then work down the list.
  7. Put a reminder on your calendar to do this every season.
