Readable web addresses
A page address like yoursite.com/services/wood-fired-pizza tells a visitor and a search engine exactly where they are. One like yoursite.com/?p=4827 tells them nothing. Short, plain, word-based addresses are easier to share, remember, and rank.
The move
Look at your page URLs. If they're gibberish, that's a fix worth making.
Do it step by step
- Click through your site and read each page's address in the bar.
- Flag any that are numbers, codes, or gibberish.
- Rewrite them as plain words — /wood-fired-pizza, not /page-id-4827.
- Use hyphens between words, all lowercase, no spaces or symbols.
- Keep them short — drop filler words like "the" and "our."
- In your builder, look for "URL slug" or "permalink" in page settings.
- If a page is already live, set up a redirect from the old address so links don't break.
