This one's worth repeating because it fixes more problems than any other single habit: a photo straight off a modern phone can be 8 megabytes, and ten of them will sink a page. Run images through a free compressor first and most will shrink by 70% with no visible loss.

Do it step by step
- Search for a free image compressor — Squoosh or TinyPNG are solid.
- Bookmark it so it's one tap away every time.
- Before uploading any photo, run it through the compressor first.
- Aim to get each image under about 200 KB.
- Save it as a JPG for photos, PNG only when you need transparency.
- Newer WebP format is even smaller if your builder accepts it.
- Make it a habit: compress first, upload second — every time.
