Speed is a feature
A page that takes five seconds to load has already lost half its visitors, and Google knows it. Most slowness comes from one place: enormous images uploaded straight off a phone or camera. Shrink them before they go up, and the whole site gets lighter.
The move
Check your slowest page at pagespeed.web.dev. If images are the culprit, compress them.
Do it step by step
- Go to pagespeed.web.dev in your browser.
- Paste your slowest page's full URL — include the https://.
- Tap the blue "Analyze" button and wait about 20 seconds.
- Check your Mobile score first, then switch to Desktop with the tabs up top.
- Scroll to "Diagnostics" and "Opportunities" — look for image-related flags.
- If large images are the culprit, compress them before you upload the next one.
- Fix, then re-run the test to confirm the score climbed.
